Jamka, a small village of Junagadh taluka and district situated 30 km away from the city, is known across the Gujarat by its revolutionary work in the field of Water Harvesting, Conservation of Rain Water and for new technology based Agriculture cultivation. Village has initiated construction of check dam in 1999 under the leadership of Mr. Mansukh Suvagiya , now President of Jal Kranti Trust, 51 check dams constructed in the village surrounding. This movement brings good economy benefits to the villagers. When this campaign started there were no such scheme in action to support to the cause by government, so farmers have contributed in cash and kind to store the water to rid away the water scarcity. This movement become a scheme when the then Chief Minister of Gujarat Keshubhai Patel seen this work and he started Sardar Patel Sahbhagi Jal Sinchai Yojna to replicate the model across the state. Apart this, Government of Gujarat’s Best Farmer Award winner and Sarpanch of the Jamaka village Parshottambhai Sidapara has a great vision for the promotion of Gir Cow and Organic Farming, he never used insecticides, pesticides or chemical fertilizer instead he used Cow dung and Cow’s urine in the agri crop in his farm. Around Five Lacs of people including Agriculture Scientist , Farmers, Media people , Religious Gurus and others visited Jamka and Sidapara’s farm to know about the activity.
